Déjà accueilli à la MAC lors du festival EXIT en 2009, Ryoichi Kurokawa présente Ground, une sculpture audiovisuelle en triptyque qui croise les genres du film documentaire et de la musique visuelle, basée sur une collaboration entre le caméraman et journaliste belge Daniel Demoustier et l’artiste japonais
Ryoichi Kurokawa. ground est une nouvelle approche de l’imagerie surmédiatisée (principe du JT : sensationnel, court, politiquement correct etc.) en mettant l’accent sur le paysage abandonné. Le paysage est un des thèmes centraux des oeuvres récentes de Ryoichi Kurokawa.

Ryoichi Kurokawa has already came to the MAC during the EXIT festival in 2009, this year, he exhibits ground, an audiovisual time-based sculptural triptych
conceived as a mix of a documentary film and a visual music installation. It is based on the collaboration between the Japanese audiovisual artist Ryoichi Kurokawa and the Belgian tv-news cameraman/ director Daniel Demoustier, both internationally renowned actors in their own field. They are developing an audiovisual work in which they focus on a very specific audiovisual approach of imagery of war and catastrophe (Demoustier’s main activity as a war journalist). The central idea is a re-approach of the over-mediated imagery (i.e. shaped by tv-news principles: sensational, short, politically correct etc.), by focusing on the abandoned landscape. The landscape has been the central theme in the recent works of Kurokawa.
