Expanded Eye est une sculpture lumineuse interactive qui représente un gros oeil transparent, suspendu au plafond ; l’installation observe le spectateur grâce à une caméra infrarouge qui projette l’oeil de ce dernier à l’intérieur de la sculpture. Elle reconnaît les clignements d’oeil et de ce fait interagit avec le spectateur. Chaque battement d’oeil multiplie
le nombre d’yeux dans la projection d’une manière fragmentée, hexagonale et disloquée. L’enjeu de l’oeuvre est de développer la vision des êtres humains, en les confrontant à eux-mêmes ; ils s’observent à travers une grande interface transparente qui permet la multiplication des points de vue. Ainsi, le public est invité à regarder dans la sculpture, il peut
jouer avec ses yeux dans un univers magique où observation, perception, réflexion personnelle et sensibilité sont liées. Le projet Expanded Eye a été développé pendant l’Interactivos 2008 au Medialab Prado in Madrid, en Espagne, avec la collaboration de Jacqueline Steck, Alvaro Cassinelli, Carles Gutiérrez, Oswald Aspilla Pérez.

Expanded Eye is an interactive light sculpture composed by a big transparent eye suspended from the ceiling; the sculpture looks to the user with an infrared camera and projects his eyes inside it. It recognizes the user’s eyes movements of blink and generates an interactive animation based on it. Each eye blink multiplies the spectator eyes in a fragmented,
hexagonal and dislocated way. The core of the piece is to expand the view of human beings by engaging them to be observed by their own eyes through out a big transparent interface that multiplies the user’s points of view. It invites people to look inside and to play with their eyes movements in a magical context where perception links with sensitive self-reflection and observation. Expanded Eye project was developed during Interactivos 2008 at Medialab Prado in Madrid, Spain. It was developed in collaboration with: Jacqueline Steck, Alvaro Cassinelli, Carles Gutiérrez, Oswald Aspilla Pérez.
